The Manifesto for Change - Together We Can Make Change Happen in Doncaster

1. Reliable frontline services responsive to your needs.
• A commitment to face litter, disorderly conduct and other difficult community problems head-on.
• Community safety resourced and managed so that it is visible in our neighbourhoods and responsive to emergencies.
• Social service workers given the tools needed to keep the vulnerable safe - particularly those in roles with children.
• Inspirational schools where children thrive and develop without disruption.

A cleaner and safer place to live, grow and thrive.

• Cleaner neighbourhoods, footpaths, highways and verges.
• Transport infrastructure that people can rely on. Less road congestion to reduce air pollution and street noise.
• Reliable waste removal with broad recycling opportunities.
• Robust prevention and response to flooding.


2. Economic recovery bringing opportunities for hard-working people.
• I'll apply my regeneration career experience to attract meaningful, lasting opportunities for work.
• Efficient transport planning and improved roads to attract employers: support to widen White Rose Way, new airport road link, opening the North Bridge to reduce congestion by French Gate, better access for taxis and other creative ideas to keep people moving.
• More free parking to encourage a vibrant Town Centre.
• Receptive ear to issues effecting local businesses through a strengthened Chamber of Commerce and supporting the skills base employers demand.


3. A Local Council We Can All Be Proud of
   • Red tape and Political Confusion must be consigned to past. I want a Council that looks forward.
   • Council employees deserve to be valued, supported and well-led. Any well-run enterprise must listen to its people and our council must do the same.
   • "Transformational" plans need to be simplified. I want everyone to fully understand the goal. The Council, and what it does, should be simple and easy to understand from the outside.
   • I want to promote opportunities for staff to learn what other Councils are doing well and deliver it locally.
   • Administrative systems should be simple, not burdensome, to ensure more time on the front-line while rewarding successes, not impeding them.
   • Robust opportunities for training, mentoring and collaboration.

Diplomacy to end the infighting that has paralysed the Council Chamber.

• I'll end the infighting by drawing a line under the previous administration. I am committed a collaborative style of leadership informed by my experience as a diplomat.
• I believe in an open cabinet filled with the best people to deliver for the town. People from outside of my Party will have an opportunity to join my cabinet.
• I welcome anyone to join me in the best opportunity for a fresh beginning in Doncaster for generations.
