During a campaign rally in Pickburn, William Hague said: “We’ve got a great candidate in Jonathan Wood for Mayor of Doncaster. He has the right ideas for change and for a much better Council."
“Doncaster is a place where people have the classic Yorkshire feeling of pride for their Town alongside the understanding that it is yet to reach its potential. A bright, imaginative leader like Jonathan Wood would be a real catalyst for change and would put Doncaster on the map. This is the best opportunity for a fresh beginning the town has had for more than a generation.”
William Hague and Jonathan Wood then travelled to the Frenchgate Centre and Doncaster Market to meet with shoppers.
Earlier this week, Jonathan Wood released his manifesto for change in which he states that as Mayor he would apply his years of large-scale regeneration experience to rejuvenate the town while bringing economic opportunity to all.
Jonathan plans to apply his extensive background as a diplomat, gained while working with the Foreign Office, to undertake a collaborative leadership style that would end in-fighting in the Council.
