A Doncaster man born and bred, Jonathan Wood was elected Doncaster Councillor on 1st May 2008 representing the Sprotbrough Ward. He has already brought a fresh perspective to local politics and is ready to take Doncaster forward as Mayor. His diverse background and experience would help the Borough of Doncaster to reach its promise:
- A head for business:
Jonathan earned a BA (hons) in Accountancy and Finance and undertook formal training with PKF accountancy firm in Sheffield.
- Significant experience with regeneration work:
Jonathan worked for Yorkshire Forward for five years while engaged in major Doncaster projects including: McCormick Tractor plant transition (from CASE), Portola Packaging factory, Lakeside Village Development and Doncaster Airport feasibility work.
- A breadth of experience in diplomacy:
In the United States Jonathan held the position of Vice Consul within the British Consulate-General, Chicago, where he was succesful in representing the United Kingdom for purposes of securing trade and inward investment.
